Hi,

We have rolled out OCS 2007 R2 across our network, primarily for internal
IM.

The installation has been pushed out to the clients using GPO and has worked
on all PC's (a mix of XPP, Vista Bus and W7 Pro) with the exception of 1.

When the software installation is run manually on this particular PC, the
installation appears to go through without a problem, completing without an
error reported.

However, no program is installed. There in no "Program Files\Microsoft
Office Communicator" folder present (the default installation folder) and no
shortcuts. I've not looked at the registry to see what may or may not have
been set up there.

The Application Event log shows a couple of related MsiInstaller entries:

I'm at a loss as to why it won't install.

Any ideas?

Cheers

Yes this response is many years late .. but i came across this issue today and all my googling was a waste of time - with this post being the only one that i managed to stumble across that was relevant (exactly) to the issue i was facing ... so i'm putting my fix in here for any other poor sob in the same situation as me.

I had Office Communicator 2007 client on my machine already (non R2 version) and needed to upgrade it to the R2 version for various reasons, so i removed the old version, downloaded the R2 client from VLSC and attempted to install it .. same problem as OP. I tried a cpl VM's with different versions of windows (xp 32/64bit, win7 32bit and windows 8 64bit) none of them would install Office 2007 R2 straight off the bat ... so I raged and installed the original Office Communicator 2007 client again and was about to get over it .. but then thought, what if i install the R2 version over this one ? the installer added a few extra files to the path and loaded Office Communicator 2007 R2 \o/

NFI whats going on with the original installer for R2, but it's worked around now so I couldn't give 2 flying kahoots.

Thanks and Enjoy .o/
